Dear FANCO Friends and Kababayans,
Two massive disasters in less than a month? And two letters of appeal from us.
Hardly had we taken a break in our frenzied appeal for succor for the Bohol and Cebu earthquake when a more vicious calamity struck the same Visayan region leaving it reeling. This time, Leyte and Samar where many of our FANCO members have their ethnic origins, bore the brunt of Super Typhoon Haiyan .
Watching the account of the calamity on TV is gut wrenching while the printed spreads show bloated bodies strung in trees, boats tossed inland and many out to sea, the tragic panorama resembled a garbage dump, while survivors thread their way looking for food and water. Official death toll as of late is 1744 and may reach 10,000 as rescue operations work their way into the debris.
We hope that you are able to come and support FANCO's two fundraising activities.
1. You are invited to "Taste and Donate" this coming Sunday, Nov 17, 12 noon thru 4pm, St. Isabel Parish Hall. Please see attached Flyer for more details
2. Donate slightly used clothing, non-perishable food, like canned goods, noodles and cash to supplement what FANCO had earmarked from our coffers. Details are in attached flyer.
What can we do except to knock again at the door of your heart to once more extend your help in solidarity with our stricken brethren in the central region.

Trail Hike | Rush Creek Open Space Reserve
By Rudy Viernes
Now it can be told. That even if you haven't had any initiation on trail hiking you can easily make the 3-mile distance without a sweat if there's good company with fun, effervescence and fellowship along the way, while allured by rural charm, picture-perfect rolling hills and enthralling sceneries. Amidst such surroundings one can only run down his thoughts in quiet reflection, while on the trek, in an act of communion with God and he feels reposed.
